New ENSL Website
Howdy,
Joakim is interested making a new website for ENSL. It should look much better and work better too. It will take some time but meanwhile, but please post any feature requests or any suggestions how the website should work here.
Yours, Jiriki

A few for starts:
- e-mail notifications when you get a PM (or am I the only one that doesn't get this currently even though the option is selected on my profile?).
- allow steam ID to be input in new format for NS2 (e.g 0:0:1234 = 2468, 0:1:1234 = 2469).
- have a page that shows all the group tables for the current season all together so you don't have to click each group to see the standings.

How about optimize speed cause i think ensl is one of the slowest fucking sites EVER .. atm at least.. maybe it is just me but it sure seems slower than it used to be.

ETF2L.org is a nice example of what the ENSL website could be.

it would be nice to get something like page for replays and links directly to streams that are casted. instead of seeing it in shoutbox and you dont know which time that was posted :O

EisTeeAT: That is the main thing I will work at. I am aswell really tired of the loading times of the site.
Tanis: I will.
MzZ: That one is on the list.

Please keep the same look and colors! It is so easy to read, unlike some sites....

Useability!
Stuff is hard to find, maybe try icons?
The colours on the site looks good, albeit a bit half done, why are there for example no timestamps in the shoutbox, etc.

Is there any reason one guy would be making the site alone? And when you say "new", do you mean a completely new codebase?
ENSL is a currently a Rails app right? is the source for the site considered "closed"? I'm asking because I think it would be great if the source were publicly (or privately) hosted at somewhere like github/bitbucket. It would at least allow other members of the community to contribute their own pull requests/fixes/patches, etc. I would certainly be interested in helping.

Different gathers for NA and EU, and "preferred skill level" to choose from.
You could join either NA or EU, but server would be from continent you signed up for.
You could also queue for as many gathers as you like, and if one gather starts, you automatically leave other queues.

I don't know how SteamyTaco will organize the work he wants to do but at some point a forum thread might be more adapted for these sort of requests :)

How about a "karma" system for gather players. Display how many gathers a player has played, how many times they pulled a no-show.
-Add end of gather voting for +1 positive feedback or -1 feedback from players in the gather as well as comments. Like an NS2 player yelp :)
-Link to that players ns2stats profile perhaps, so that even first time gatherers have credentials of some kind.

elo system in the gathers;
+5 for win
-3 for losse
+3 for draw
-10 not showing up (automatic bann for 2 days)
With that ppl can select players based on that elo ranking. It would help to get more balanced gathers going.
Myb with a graph showing NS2stats and ensl win/losse ratio.
Aswell as an option to mark yourself as (Commander).
And if you leave the website (close it) you leave the gather. If thats not working u can set a timelimit. With a warning for the player, that hes about to leave the gather.
thx for your work!

I feel like we had a lot of those suggestions fot the Gather alrdy with NS1 ... PPL .. .. so those kind of obvious things all been tried like autoleaving the gather after a set time .. for some ppl good .. for OTHERS it SUCKS! .. so it was removed again.

It's just a matter of getting the mechanics correct. I don't know how that worked previously on ENSL. But one thing is for sure, it's no fun waiting for someone that doesn't show up/are very late.
If you don't even keep an eye on the gather, then you don't deserve to play, imo.

On that I might add... reminder chimes any time someone joins the gather, or at least when the last 3-4 join. Keeps you thinking about it, let's you know how close it's getting.

I don't think that any scoring system for gathers is needed.
It would be just better if you could choose "skill division" you want to play in because to develop as a player you need to play with slightly better players than yourself. So you gotta have a hunch of what your skill level is. If you don't then start from bottom and advance.
And isn't purpose of gathers to create even teams and not to farm any rankings? Sometimes this is not true so despite of your individual skill level your team could still lose and you would lose ranking.
Another point of view for ranking farming is for players like me who don't often play gathers but enjoy high quality games. You would have to start from playing default skill level games to advance to high quality game you would really like to play. Sounds like WoW-farming to me. Hours of farming and then you get to do what you really like. Again, this could work in game with lots of players which NS2 isn't.
Personally I think personal ranking points are for pure k/d games which NS2 isn't.

Any kind of ranking is idiotic ofc!
First it would take way to long for each gather to fill up!
Second as Timar mentioned who says someone is worse than someone else just because is is not playing gathers all the time .. he could have gotten good in team practice.
And no ranking system also makes the communication better cause ppl need to get to know each other to make good teams which is also kind of nice .. since i doubt you guys do communicate at all while playing XD !

I think he meant that the ranking would just help everyone choose captains and then help captains choose their teams. Doesn't seem like a bad idea really.

Nobody is going to farm ranking in the fucking ENSL gather system. That would be an insane waste of your time.

NO no no... No ranking system, I think I really did say it best. A Karma system... like +1 horaay you showed up and played user comment "friendly and good player". Like ebay reviews.
