NSL Invitational Cup #1 Update
Update about the NSL Invitational Cup #1
Tournament format
We did put up the matches for the main event of the Invitational Events which you can find here:
The matches will be held between the 1st-3rd March. Since the time is very short, we had to put up deadlines where matches needs to be played latest, but the teams have the possibility to start playing their games from Friday 1st March. We highly encourage to play your matches as early as possible - for that use the ENSL match page comments and steam group we just created for communication! We know this is some pressure, but we decided to do a double group stage (Round Robin) to have the most fair results for this event - since hell, there is the biggest prize pool in NS history ($7,300) involved!
Update: It seems you can place gorge tunnels in some vents, this is considered an exploit and have been added to the exploit list in the rules!
The format is explained in detail in the NSL Invitational Rules, but here is also some overview for what you have to expect from this epic tournament:
Group stage 2 and final rounds
After the Group Stage 1 has finished (latest Saturday 2nd March at around 21 CET), we create the matches for Group Stage 2 right after so you can (hopefully) get all matches of the second stage done on saturday. But if time gets too late, there is also the possibility to reschedule your last match to early sunday (read the rules for details).
The semifinals will be held simultaneously at 3rd March 20 CET which will most surely be livestreamed so stay tuned to watch live on who will go to Cologne ;-)
The 3rd decider match will follow with a separate note since no more match can be held on this packed weekend.
Deadline times overview
As explained above, we encourage teams to play their matches as early as possible, but if this isn't possible, these are the deadline times when both teams have to show up if the match hasn't been played earlier:
- Group Stage 1 - Round 1: Saturday 2nd March at 18:00 CET
- Group Stage 1 - Round 2: Saturday 2nd March at 19:00 CET
- Group Stage 1 - Round 3: Saturday 2nd March at 20:00 CET
- Group Stage 2 - Round 1: Saturday 2nd March at 22:00 CET
- Group Stage 2 - Round 2: Saturday 2nd March at 23:00 CET
- Group Stage 2 - Round 3: Sunday 3rd March at 18:00 CET

If possible, yes. You can also schedule earlier on saturday. But if you can't find an earlier schedule, you can play at the deadline times.

Bo7 and Bo9 seems a bit excessive?
I would say Bo5 and Bo7 is more than enough .. but hey just a suggestion !

Hahahaha for some reason that cocorico video made me laugh. French just became a bit more silly :D.
On topic, can't wait to see these matches. All of the groups are stacked to the gills! There's going to be lots and lots of good games.

Hehe, looks like Nostromo signed up for group A, wishful thinking from our antipodean cousins?

BO9 is not excessive for a main event on live stage Eistee ;)
Also BO7 is quite feasible for the two parallel main matches on sunday

Well blind .. lets say the two teams playing will be fairly even and they play 9 ROUNDS .. to 30 mins each ... that is over 5 hours if we count the delays between games .. i do feel the players might be a bit exausted ... and i know my eyes would kill me after thast amount of time.
But hey if they are NERD enough for it . SO BE IT !

Well, when you pay for 12 players getting to cologne, book hotels plus casters and shit, pay the ESL studio, pay twitch.tv for frontpage, pay.....and so on - then you wouldn't like to see that the evening is over after 1,5 hours ;-)
Last time ESL Studio it was also a BO9 - everyone was happy.
On the contrary, even on smaller cups, we had several BO3's or BO5's which went pretty quick and everyone was like "wait, that's it? lame."

I think people prefer to see well-balanced matches rather than enough to fill a set time. For example, I'd love to see a BO3 with 30+min epic battles, then a BO9 that ends with five, 10 min stomps.

Why Nostromo is in Group A ?

Any team can sign up for any competition but then there is no option to leave it. Probably something that should be fixed. I did it once to see what would happen and had to get an admin to remove my team :P
