I agree with shorter competitive event in all case.. And a shorter custom map event distributed over one or two days should be great :D

I'm all for more competitions for the comp scene. Small is good, big is good, somewhere in between is good.
Jambi, Caged, Mineral, maybe even Stratos.

Custom maps tournament would be grate, the only problem with playing it in one weekend is that if you need to find a date good for most of teams.
What maps will be played? Would like to see light, even though I haven't updated it for a month now :)

I personally dislike custom map cups, which is why I wouldn't sign up for one. I just have a general hate towards MOST custom maps, because of my own reasons.
That doesn't mean that you shouldn't let one happen though, it's fun to watch custom map matches (gorge casting couch COUGH). Just stating my own opinion towards signing up, cause you asked for it ;)

I for one would be interested in playing these custom map tourneys, ive always loved testing out all the maps everyone creates. And i think this would work out really well because in the past not many people can commit to the weekly custom map playtest sessions. So i think this is a great oppurtunity for mappers and both the players that partake in the tourney.
In addition I dont play for a team ;) so if this tourney does happen, message me and ill happily join up to play in this tourney. :D
And id also like to suggest we add ns2_nyx to the map rotations. Currently under development by malx and a few others.

I think this is a great idea. Even having an event taking place over 1 or 2 weeks could be done if there are enough people willing to participate.
I haven't played much lately myself, have been caught up in working with mineral and generally my studies as well as other games. I could see myself play in gather-style tournament events though!
This would be great for mappers as well, even just to watch matches provides a lot of information for us. The absolute best thing though, for me, is when competitive players voice their opinions on my map. Having the opportunity to get more of both would be perfect!

I'm not talking as team-captain anymore. But I know from the past cups, that one of the reasons why TAWsome/TAWific did not sign up to a cup, was that there were only quite high-level teams.
Personally I would like to play a custom map cup, but there should be more div3-4 teams in it, otherwise the stomp would be too hard for me, to be of interest.
If it would be combined with a draft, this could actually lead to more participating teams overall and evens out the teams. Organisations is of course harder, when doing so and there are team-captains needed.

I like the idea to do draft style custom map tourneys. Could span over two weekends maybe, like last draft tourney?

I like the idea. And with the latest patch we got a workaround for the steam workshop problem so it's time to promote some custom maps.
love that idea but could I participate if docking2 would be played aswell?

My suggestions for upcoming cups, since I haven't looked much at the custom maps being created, except but skimming the first two pages on the UWE forums. It seems there could be plenty of potential out there. I will put my suggestions to times and formats, I pretty much support giving any map that have the basic game mechanics in place the chance to be played and get needed critic. I would love more diversity in the played maps. On that note, why don't we play eclipse in officials?
Custom map cup:
- Put out the signups as soon as possible
- Have it held at the second weekend in january; 9th-11th
- Make two seperate signups, one for the draft approach and one for team approach. When the signup ends, you can pick the tournament type depending on the amount of each type of signups. I believe there could be a wider range of players participating in a draft, but on the other hand, some teamleaders might convince their entire teams to participate if you have the team style tournament.
Preliminary Cup for the next season (NSL Winter Cup?)
- Put out signups as the first thing in 2015
- Have it held at the next two following weekends in january 16th-18th and 23th-25th - or just the last one if the amount of signups won't require two weekends for a group play with playoffs cup.
- This cup should be directed at the teams playing in the season, with a similar format, but more quickly executed.
Season:
- Put out signups as the first thing in 2015 (together with the "Winter Cup")
- Have it start at the 1st of February
Ladder:
- Have it start the same week the group play of the season ends.

Thanks for your feedbacks. Very appreciated. I'm going to make a kind of poll asking you a few information such as: what kind of format would you be willing to play (draft, simple tournament with your team), maps that you'd be interested to play on, etc. I'll do that as soon as I can.
If you have any other idea, you're welcomed.

We could sign up for a scheduled event, which would take place on 1, 2 or 3 days.

One thing i'd like to point out; you need some incentive for teams to play custom maps.
What I did, was to announce that only the participating players/teams could vote whether or not maps would get accepted into the season map rotation. People would like to have a say, so that forced many teams to sign up and play even though they weren't too happy playing custom maps.
A gather/draft style cup could likely bring in more participants, but I think it should be up to the teams that also participate in the season and not individuals that may or may not be playing the season at all. With incentive as mentioned above, I think you would see a similar turnout on participating teams as you would with individual participants in a gather/draft style scenario.
And finally, hold the event during a single weekend, smooth and quick.
